The Complete Guide to Buying Dentures Online: Everything You Need to Know

Buying dentures online has become an increasingly convenient option for people looking to replace missing teeth without the traditional costs and appointments associated with dental offices.

But not all online dentures are the same.

Some require dental impressions and custom laboratory fabrication. Others use heat-moldable materials that allow customers to fit their dentures at home. And some inexpensive products marketed as dentures are little more than loose plastic beads and artificial teeth.

Understanding these differences can help you make an informed purchase.

At Denture Rescue, we believe customers should know exactly what they're buying, how the fitting process works, and what to expect from their new dentures.

Can You Really Buy Dentures Online?

Yes. Several types of dentures are available for purchase online, although the ordering and fitting processes vary.

Traditional custom dentures are generally made using impressions or digital scans of your mouth. These measurements are used to create a denture specifically designed for your oral anatomy.

Other products, including self-fitting dentures, are manufactured in advance and adapted to the customer's gums using specialized materials.

One example is NowDenture® Heat & Fit®, a dentist-invented, fully assembled denture designed to be fitted at home without traditional impressions.

The important thing is to understand which type of denture you're purchasing and whether it's appropriate for your needs.

What Types of Dentures Can You Buy Online?

1. Custom Dentures

Custom dentures are fabricated using impressions or digital scans of the patient's mouth.

They are designed around the individual's oral anatomy and may involve professional evaluation, multiple appointments, and adjustments.

Custom dentures can be particularly useful for patients with complex fitting requirements.

2. Self-Fitting Full Dentures

Self-fitting dentures are designed to be adapted to the wearer's gums without traditional impressions.

NowDenture® Heat & Fit® is one example.

NowDenture arrives as a fully assembled denture with a professionally fabricated base and realistic denture teeth. Its heat-moldable fitting process allows customers to adapt the denture to their gums at home.

Unlike traditional custom dentures, NowDenture is available in predetermined sizes rather than being manufactured from individual impressions.

3. Partial Dentures

Partial dentures replace one or more missing teeth while accommodating remaining natural teeth.

Depending on the type, partial dentures may require impressions, professional evaluation, or other customization.

If you still have natural teeth in the arch you're replacing, a partial denture may be more appropriate than a full denture.

4. DIY Denture Kits and Molding Beads

Some inexpensive products marketed as dentures contain loose thermoplastic beads, generic tooth strips, or components that customers must assemble themselves.

These should not automatically be considered equivalent to professionally manufactured dentures.

Before purchasing, review the product description and photographs carefully to understand exactly what will arrive.

Unfortunately, some websites advertise complete, realistic-looking dentures but deliver loose molding beads or generic artificial teeth instead. Before ordering, read our guide to spotting misleading denture websites to learn what to watch for.

What Should You Look for When Buying Dentures Online?

Quality of Materials

Look for clear information about how the denture is manufactured and what materials are used.

A professionally fabricated denture base and realistic denture teeth are important distinctions when comparing complete dentures with novelty or temporary cosmetic products.

Fitting Method

Find out whether the product requires impressions, digital scans, professional fitting, or an at-home fitting process.

Different fitting methods have different advantages and limitations.

Sizing Options

For self-fitting dentures, choosing an appropriate starting size is important.

NowDenture is available in Medium and Large sizes and includes sizing trays so customers can check their selected size before opening the sealed denture.

Customer Support

Fitting dentures can require patience.

Choose a company that provides clear instructions and assistance if you encounter problems.

Shipping and Return Policies

Before ordering, review the company's shipping times, fitting instructions, return eligibility, and exchange policies.

This is particularly important for products that cannot be returned after opening or use.

Can You Buy Dentures Online Without Impressions?

Yes. Certain self-fitting dentures are designed to be fitted without traditional dental impressions.

NowDenture® uses Heat & Fit® technology to allow the denture to be molded and remolded to the gums.

Rather than taking an impression and waiting for a custom denture to be fabricated, customers receive a completed denture and follow the included fitting instructions.

Some people achieve a satisfactory fit quickly, while others may require several fitting attempts and minor adjustments.

How Much Does It Cost to Buy Dentures Online?

Online denture prices vary depending on the product, materials, customization, and services included.

Custom dentures generally cost more because they involve individualized fabrication and may require professional appointments.

Self-fitting dentures offer a different approach.

At Denture Rescue, NowDenture® Heat & Fit® dentures cost $187 per upper or lower arch, with free standard shipping within the United States.

Customers can purchase an upper denture, lower denture, or both.

When comparing prices, consider what you're actually receiving. A fully assembled denture is very different from a package of loose molding materials.

How Long Does It Take to Receive Dentures Ordered Online?

Delivery times depend on the type of denture.

Custom-made dentures may require additional time for impressions, fabrication, and adjustments.

Premanufactured self-fitting dentures can generally be shipped more quickly because they don't require individualized laboratory fabrication after purchase.

Denture Rescue offers free UPS Ground shipping within the United States, with typical delivery in approximately 4–6 business days.

Actual delivery times may vary depending on the destination, order timing, and carrier conditions.

Are Online Dentures Comfortable?

Comfort depends on the denture's design, sizing, fit, and the individual's oral anatomy.

Traditional custom dentures are fabricated using patient-specific measurements, while self-fitting dentures rely on an adaptable fitting process.

NowDenture's Heat & Fit technology allows customers to mold and remold the denture to their gums.

However, no denture can be guaranteed to fit every person perfectly.

Some customers may need multiple fitting attempts, and others may find that a professionally fabricated custom denture is more appropriate for their needs.

Poorly fitting dentures can cause irritation, soreness, and difficulty eating or speaking. Persistent discomfort should be evaluated by a dental professional.

Who Is NowDenture Designed For?

NowDenture is intended for adults who have no remaining natural teeth in the upper or lower arch being fitted.

For example, a customer who has no upper teeth but still has lower natural teeth may be able to use an upper NowDenture.

NowDenture is not designed to fit around remaining natural teeth in the same arch.

People with unusual oral anatomy, recent extractions, or other oral health concerns should consult a dental professional before choosing a self-fitting denture.
